A quick intermediary discussion amidst your reviews (and particularly relevant to Georgia’s piece).  An Associate Press photographer has been sacked for manipulating one of his images (even though Associate Press admits that some forms of manipulation are permissible).  Here is a particularly weak discussion of the controversy from the guardian.  What do you make of its insistence upon this “chain of trust”?  It seems to be an interesting comparison to the “chain of significations”:
