The Camera Cannot Lie
The reading for this week ‘The Mirror’ by Haruki Murakami made me think of photographs such as these.
These images, for some people, prove the existence of ghosts or some other form of spiritual existence. Does this therefore mean that a photograph always captures reality? Can the camera really never lie? Or are these ‘ghosts’ simply reflections of light etc. Moreover, have these images simply been manipulated in programs such as Photoshop? These photographs therefore again, highlight how many images can be misrepresentations’ of reality.
